Tamarillo Mascarpone Scones

Something new to try, let’s be honest the scones are plain but the Tamarillo Mascarpone take these to the next level!

500 g Flour

2 teaspoons Baking Soda

4 ½ teaspoons Cream of Tartar

75 g Butter

300ml Milk

1 egg Beaten for the tops


To Serve

200ml Cream  beaten to soft peaks

125g Mascarpone

4 teaspoons For the Love of Tams Preserve


You will need a mixing bowl and a baking tray lined with baking paper or greased and floured.

  1. Mix all your dry ingredients together.
  2. Add the butter and mix with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
  3. Add the milk and mix until just combined into a soft dough. Ensure you do not over mix!
  4. Turn onto a floured surface and roll out the dough to 2cm thick. Cut out your scones with a scone cutter or a floured glass.

Place your scones onto the baking sheet and wash with the beaten egg. Bake for 10 minutes at 2200C. To serve, cut your scones as desired. Mix 4 teaspoons of the For the Love of Tams – Tamarillo Preserve with the mascarpone or serve with Tamco Tamarillo Preserve and whipped cream.

Pro Tip: These scones are best eaten fresh, leftover scones can be frozen and thawed as required.
