500 g Flour
2 teaspoons Baking Soda
4 ½ teaspoons Cream of Tartar
75 g Butter
1 egg Beaten for the tops
200ml Cream beaten to soft peaks
4 teaspoons For the Love of Tams Preserve
You will need a mixing bowl and a baking tray lined with baking paper or greased and floured.
- Mix all your dry ingredients together.
- Add the butter and mix with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
- Add the milk and mix until just combined into a soft dough. Ensure you do not over mix!
- Turn onto a floured surface and roll out the dough to 2cm thick. Cut out your scones with a scone cutter or a floured glass.
Place your scones onto the baking sheet and wash with the beaten egg. Bake for 10 minutes at 2200C. To serve, cut your scones as desired. Mix 4 teaspoons of the For the Love of Tams – Tamarillo Preserve with the mascarpone or serve with Tamco Tamarillo Preserve and whipped cream.
Pro Tip: These scones are best eaten fresh, leftover scones can be frozen and thawed as required.
